WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?
Coffee and half a cup of intensely high-fiber wheat bran cereal with water. (Then I flagellate myself — just kidding.) ONE WORD THAT DESCRIBES YOUR MOOD IN THE MORNING?
WHAT GETS YOUR JUICES FLOWING?
Sitting and racking my brains. I try to come up with all the possibilities for every aspect of my novel, for every scene I’m writing. I make thorough lists of these possibilities. I don’t just pick the first ones that come to mind, because they are usually less interesting than the ones that come to me as the list gets longer.
