It’s like the seed vault that stores samples of thousands of plant species to make sure the world’s flora cannot go extinct. We are our own vault, and our sparks are one of one. We hold the base formula. Our knowledge of self is singular, unique and vital.
Celebrity is less a celebration of fame, and more a celebration of human depth; we are all rich, complex bundles of thoughts and memories, flesh and bone and organic structures. The things we do, the way we look, the jobs we perform and the art we make are just book covers, some more revealing than others, but promises of stories within.
It’s a blind first stumble down a slippery slope — one that weakens my sense of direction, makes me send ‘lol’ instead of actually laughing, replaces essential parts of life and human connection simply because it can. I am scared that empathy will one day appear inconvenient, or optional.
I’ve noticed in myself and others a definite inability to enjoy success for prolonged periods of time. Feelings of pride and accomplishment are often quickly displaced by those of uncertainty, anxiety, and a desire to do better the next time. Such is often the characteristic of the focused and the determined.
Perhaps the answer lies in the not-so-new-but-relatively-speaking-so area of consciousness studies. The concept of consciousness is basically undeniable whilst also being totally mysterious and fantastical.
The upward trend of connectivity is undeniable. However¸ my question is this: Where does it all end?
This mysterious appeal certainly resides within me. Fortunately, like most people, I have a healthy relationship with this inner demon. Its fascination with chaos is simply that; it does not manifest itself as a desire to do wrong, but it must be fed.
It’s all about perspective isn’t it? Seeing the significance of money and materialism, and then seeing the far greater importance of ameliorating yourself and the lives of those around you.
These revolutionaries who failed to recognize pessimism and self-doubt were positive thinkers. They realized that self-fulfillment lies not at the bottom of a wallet, but somewhere far deeper.
