Morning Glory: MARTENA DUSS

 

MARTENA DUSS is a creative superhero. She is the co-creator of Sweat Shop a sewing café in Paris where sewing machines can be rented by the hour. Located at 13, rue Lucien Sampaix in the trendy Canal St. Martin area, this genius place has been featured in countless publications; here’s an article from the New York Times. “I was born in Switzerland, moved to Ghent, Belgium, at the age of 18 where I studied visual arts and interior design followed by make up and special effects. 4 years later I moved to Paris to work as a full time make up artist in fashion. In March 2010, I decided to take my passion for crafts and making things to the next level and opened up Sweat Shop – the first Café Couture in Paris. When I am not traveling or in the shop, I continue living in Paris as a make up artist. ”

    I love reading about different makeup designers and Martena Duss is definitely an inspiration and her list of celebrity clients is super impressive. I can totally relate to her answer on what gets her juices flowing too: I love good friends, good music and a glass of cider. Yummy!
