Surf Your Mind Project: FIONA VAN BRABANDT

I’m Fiona van Brabandt. I’m half French half Irish. I work in digital marketing and love painting. I really like stripes and my favorite English word is “unfathomable”.

 

I did this acrylic painting after a strange dream I had. The atmosphere and the creatures in this dream were so mysterious and wild that I wrote it all down in the middle of the night as I woke up. There was an ancient, deep and tropical swimming pool at the center, full of fish and plants of the most extraordinary kind: Electric eels, manta rays, red snappers and lionfish. The garden was also filled with very unusual animals covered in flamboyant colors: Archeopteryx and Persian cats with long and fluffy purple hair. As I was lying in the garden someone from my family walked towards me and I tried to catch one of the Persian cats. I woke up after I felt the cat’s piercing claws.
