Morning Glory: LOUIE LINO

LOUIE LINO is a producer, musician and engineer. Louie runs his own studio in Austin, TX where he produces and mixes records by Nada Surf, matt pond PA, Ariel Abshire and The Wooden Birds, among others. Louie has also composed & sound designed for TV and film. He got his start by convincing his parents to co-sign a loan to buy a Prophet 5 synthesizer and a Teac 4 track reel to reel, and the rest is music history. Despite music being his first love, Louie studied painting at Pratt Institute and has worked as a fine art printer (etching, silk screen & lithography), a set builder & animator on Peter Gabriel’s video “Big Time”, a prop builder for Pee Wee’s Playhouse (he built the Magic Screen and the Picture Phone!).  Louie also plays keyboards on tour with Nada Surf. WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP?
6:45
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?
Coffee w/milk, cereal, sometime with sliced banana. But just coffee will do.
ONE WORD THAT DESCRIBES YOUR MOOD IN THE MORNING?
Quiet.
WHAT GETS YOUR JUICES FLOWING?
Listening to a piece of music that catches you so off guard it makes you stop in your tracks. A couple of times I’ve heard a song that made me turn the car around and immediately go to the record store to buy it. If I’m not in the car, I’m usually listening in the studio to something new and it never gets old.
Also, getting lost in the process of making and recording music. Nothing better! AND… driving around Austin in 100 degree heat with all the windows open and the A/C on! If you’ve ever done it you’ll know what I’m talking about.
