S+ Stimulant: Lorant's Lilliput

Stefan Lorant (February 22, 1901 – November 14, 1997 ) was a pioneering Hungarian-American filmmaker, photojournalist, and author.

Of his many accomplishments and projects our favorite is Lilliput, a small-format monthly magazine of humour, short stories, photographs, and the arts, founded in 1937.

The publication was brilliant and innovative for its time in many ways, but we are particularly fond of Lorant’s simply yet brilliantly incisive and provocative picture juxtapositions which he considered “the visual telling of stories.”
