Scintilla Animae - Seymour v.2013
“I was laying in bed one night and I thought ‘I’ll just quit — to hell with it.’ And another little voice inside me said ‘Don’t quit — save that tiny little ember of spark.’ And never give them that spark because as long as you have that spark, you can start the greatest fire again.” – Charles Bukowski
Happy 2013, everyone!
Thank you for all your support and enthusiasm last year! Seymour is a constantly evolving initiative and we have grown a lot in the past year thanks to you.
To kick off the New Year we decided to refine our mission to better reflect where we are now. We invite you to check out the about section of our website and also read a letter from our founder Melissa Unger in which she explains why Seymour was initially created and what she hopes its projects will ignite within you. You’ll find the letter: here.
We also have a lot of exciting offline projects planned for 2013. Please check our projects section regularly for details!
In addition, Seymour Magazine will be evolving in a slightly new direction in the coming months with a renewed focus on providing you with philosophical and psychological insights into the creative process. We’ll offer you articles and essays that motivate you to take regular breaks from technology, help to relax your mind & encourage you to express yourself creatively in a manner that is authentic and unique to you. And of course we’ll still feature interviews of creative iconoclasts we admire!
Through all of our projects, we hope to inspire you to ‘unplug’ regularly and to Surf Your Mind at least as often as you surf the internet. We then hope to motivate you to further explore the thoughts & images that you discover in your subconscious mind by expressing them through a creative outlet. Please don’t worry about what you create being ‘good’, just do what you feel and you’ll know it’s real.
Lastly, if you haven’t already, we also invite you to join our Creative Community on Facebook!
Trust your instincts, do what you love and the rest will follow.
Wishing you a brave New Year.
