Sealing in the Summer Vibes

There’s a quote that has been making its way around the internet lately: “Everything works better if you unplug it for a while. Including you.” We’ve been saying exactly that at Seymour Projects since we began in 2011.

Taking the time to disconnect from technology to reconnect with yourself is one of the cornerstones of our philosophy. During the summer months, many of us naturally spend less time tethered to our devices. As we enter into the fall and ‘back to school’ habits creep up on us again, why not take some time to seal in those summer vibes?

We suggest that an easy, fun way to capture the feeling of summer is to write a letter to yourself. Recognize the refreshed clarity you have gained, and gather together the new perspectives and energy that come following a period of rest. Jot down your current mindset so you can access it later, describe your favorite feelings and experiences from the slower summer pace to feel them again in the future, and maybe set some good intentions for the new season.

Please don’t do this on a computer. Grab a pen or pencil and some paper, let the words flow out of you in your own handwriting. We promise the experience will be totally different if you do it old-school style.

Mark your name and address on the front of the envelope, give it to a trusted friend and have them mail it to you in one month, on the first day of next year or at the date of your choosing when you think you might welcome a sprinkling of summer, clarity and self-affirmation most.
